This system comprises two items - Ubiquiti AirFiber 5X and 30 dBi AF-5G30-S45 high gain parabolic antennas.
Ubiquiti's AirFiber 5X is a moderately priced system capable of providing high speed wireless connectivity out to about 30 kilometres. The system uses a dual-slant polarised AF-5G30-S45 dish antenna which has a 30 dBi gain (620 mm dish), providing a narrow beam capable of operating in very noisy RF environments.
AF-5X operates in a strict master-slave relationship providing data rates up to 600 Mbps. Compared to Rocket 5AC the system is capable of operating in 1024QAM with a 50 MHz channel, providing a higher data rate under high signal strength conditions.
We don't sell this type of unit online. Information is listed here to help our clients understand the equipment we've recommended or installed.
AirFiber 5X provides a significant capacity increase when compared to other Ubiquiti models. However 1024QAM is only achieved under very high signal strength conditions (around -50 dBm). Accordingly the system is only advantageous for short range links (depending on regulatory licencing).
Of course there are other advantages, such as the ability to operate in FDD or TDD modes to mitigate interference sources, along with GPS synchronisation and more.
