This downloadable coverage map contains a geographic model of Telstra 4G mobile broadband data speeds within the Isaac Council Region in Queensland. To ensure the highest level of accuracy the map includes all 162 Telstra 4G transmitters from 70 towers within and immediately surrounding the region. Prior to digital delivery the model we be re-checked for network changes, ensuring the model has the latest publicly available data included.

As a sparsely populated area most of the region uses a single Band 28 700 MHz carrier to provide 4G services up to a theoretical peak speed of 180 Mb/s. The region's towns however have received upgrades to LTE-A and LTE-Advanced Pro adding multiple B3 and B7 carriers with several towers upgraded to 4x4 MIMO. Dysart, Middlemount, and Moranbah have been upgraded for 5G. Large areas of the region have no 4G coverage, particularly areas to the west of Clermont and the Gregory Highway, and the dividing range to the west of Carmila and Clairview.

With the region encompassing a large number of mine sites, coverage models for individual mine sites is rarely accurate due to the restricted access of mine LiDAR. To provide an accurate model of 4G signal within your mine site we recommend your surveyors provide point cloud / contour data.

The model is coloured in a traditional heat-map from blue to red, representing peak LTE downlink data rates from 0 to 600 Mb/s. Peak data rates represent the maximum achievable data rate at any given location.

The Isaac region mobile broadband map can be used to identify best performing towns, areas with no coverage, determine the best location to establish a site office, determine mine site and mine camp mobile broadband availability, and many more. It covers the following major towns:

  • Carmila, Clairview, Clermont, Coppabella, Dysart, Flaggy Rock, Glenden, Greenhill and Illbilbie, Middlemount, Moranbah, Nebo, and St. Lawrence.

Recommended Use

This very large model has been generated to 5 metre grid accuracy for townships and 25 metre grid accuracy for rural areas using a combination of LiDAR, SRTM and vegetation clutter datasets, and uses ITU standard propagation models that has been optimised for Australian terrain and vegetation characteristics.

The model uses the Cradlepoint IBR1700-1200 as its modelled UE (Cat-18, 5CCA, 4x4 MIMO).

The standard format for download is Google Earth KMZ, however a range of alternative formats are available for easy import into any GIS software on request (GeoTIFF, Google Map/OpenStreetMap Tiles, SVG, and many more).
