This downloadable coverage map contains a geographic model of Telstra 4G mobile broadband data speeds within the Western Downs Queensland Council Region. To ensure the highest level of accuracy the map includes all 158 Telstra 4G transmitters within and immediately surrounding the region. Prior to digital delivery the model we be re-checked for network changes, ensuring the model has the latest publicly available data included.
Western Downs' Telstra 4G network includes several high performance LTE-Advanced Pro areas, with most major towns along the Warrego Highway capable of very high data speeds. Several towns have been upgraded to 5G which is expected to reduce congestion in the surrounding areas. Most of the surrounding rural areas are serviced only by Band 28 (700 MHz).
The model is coloured in a traditional heat-map from blue to red, representing peak LTE downlink data rates from 0 to 300 Mb/s. Peak data rates represent the maximum achievable data rate at any given location.
The Western Downs mobile broadband map can be used to identify poor performing areas, areas with no coverage, determine the best location to establish a site office or mine camp, and many more. It covers the following major towns:
- Dalby, Brigalow, Chinchilla, Kogan, Condamine, Drillham, Dulacca, Miles, Glenmorgan, Moonie, Tara, The Gums, Bell, Jandowae, Jimbour, Kaimkillenbun, Warra, Wandoan.
This model has been generated to 25 metre grid accuracy using a combination of SRTM and vegetation clutter datasets, and uses ITU standard propagation models that has been optimised for Australian terrain and vegetation characteristics. Due to the model's geographic extent LIDAR has not been used but is available as a separate purchase.
The standard format for download is Google Earth KMZ, however a range of alternative formats are available for easy import into any GIS software on request (GeoTIFF, Google Map/OpenStreetMap Tiles, SVG, and many more).
