Operation of wireless network equipment on the Australian 24 GHz band is governed by Section 23 of the Radiocommunications (Low Interference Potential Devices) Class Licence 2015, which was last updated in June 2018.

LIPD Class 2000 legislation permits the operation of RFID and Radiodetermination transmitters (radar) transmitters between the range of 24000 to 24250 MHz, provided they operate under the conditions outlined below.

Conditions

RFID and Radar transmitters must have a maximum EIRP of 1 Watt.

All other transmitter types, including microwave and wireless links are strictly limited to 100 mW EIRP.
