The 38 GHz band is globally harmonised through the International Telecommunication Union's Recommendation ITU-R F.749 for microwave technology.

ITU-R F.749 defines radio-frequency arrangements for systems of the fixed service operating in sub-bands in the 36 to 40.5 GHz band. Each country develops its own specific operating conditions based on the global ITU-R recommendation, covering information such as antenna sizing, minimum distance requirements, and geographic coordination.
